Wild harvested mugwort in the Karekare ngahere (forest) of Aotearoa, intentionally bound with hemp twine to make a burnable herb bundle. For clearing, cleansing, and attuning the energy of spaces, objects and beings, these carry in them the vibrations of rebirth, transformation and protection, as well as assisting in reawakening and revivifying the wellspring of ancestral wisdom. Each bundle is approximately 20cm long.

The ritual burning of herbs and aromatics has been of deep importance throughout world cultures since time immemorial, bridging the divide between the sacred and the mundane. Today white sage and palo santo are widely used for ‘smudging’ (a first nations term that has been appropriated, misused and overly commercialized). Unfortunately these plants are now being heavily over-harvested. Crafting your own or buying/supporting locally made smoke cleansing sticks is a sustainable choice that will bring the benefit of connecting you with the whenua (land), papatūānuku, and the plant beings that grow all around you.
