Rarā (to rattle) ~ shaker played to bring centredness, calmness, and peace. The kina contains a collection of seeds, heritage vegetables, native trees, and flowers.

Our creation stories tell us of Hine-pu-te-hue Goddess of vessels, storer of life, preserver of troubles and secrets, peace maker and calmer of souls, she played shakers to help bring peace and calmness to her godly siblings within Te Po ~ the world of darkness and into Te ao marama ~ the world of light and understanding. Thanks to her the gods found peace in chaos. We value these stories and morals as we create new taonga within this new phase Te ao hurihuri ~ the evolving world.

This shaker is 80 mm in circumference. Hand carved and polished paua shell on either side enclosing the seeds.
