Hand carved Taonga Pito - beginning treasure with kahotea pounamu. Traditionally given as a first gift to a newborn. Practically used to cut the umbilical cord at birth. Then a useful way for pēpi to teeth, connecting to the essence of all things, connection to mother, the divine feminine.
